Marlene Shoddy, 83, of Culver passed away at home on July 6, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.
Marlene was born to Carl and Laura (Shaw) Stubbs on June 22, 1935 in Culver. She was their third child and
their only daughter. She graduated from Culver High School. At age 17 she began a long career in the
accounting department at the State Exchange Bank in Culver. After 37 years, she retired from the bank and later
went to work at the Culver Police Dept. for several years. She was married on August 29, 1969 to Richard
Shoddy, who she met on a blind date set up by her cousin and his sister.

about sharing her God with the children of the community through teaching Sunday School and helping organize
VBS events. Two weeks before her passing she was still in a classroom helping teach Sunday School. Her faith
was incredibly strong and carried her through a lifetime of ups and downs.

grandchildren Scott Gambrell and Sheena (George) Leugers; great grandchildren Ana and Cora Leugers and Cela and
Zoie Gambrell and sister-in-law Janet Stubbs of Elkhart. She will also be greatly missed by her church family and
a host of friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers William and Donald.
