Treva Estella (Mitchel) Norman
Oct. 4, 1942 – Dec. 31, 2020

Treva Estella Norman passed away at St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Plymouth on Thursday,
December 31, 2020 after a brief illness.
Treva was the second child born at home to Robert George Mitchel and Estella Elizabeth
(Nettrouer) Mitchel in St. Joseph County, Indiana on October 4, 1942.
Treva graduated from Plymouth High School in 1961.  She then graduated from nurses’ training in
June 1963 from St. Vincent’s in Chicago, Illinois.
On September 25, 1965, she married Larry Douglass Norman.  They were the parents of Rebecca
Sue Norman Hartman, Timothy Edward Norman and Sarah Anne Norman.
She is survived by her three children; her son-in-law, Roger Hartman; one sister and brother-in-law,
Martha and Bruce Ringenberg of Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry, in 2016; one sister and brother-in-
law, Mary and Charles Schraer of Illinois; and her two brothers, Carl Mitchel of Plymouth and John
Kibort of Argos.
Treva spent her life taking care of people, animals (especially sheep for about 60 years) and plants.  
She was a nurse, a 4-H leader, a Master Gardener, a member of the Home & Hobby Extension and
a regular attendee of the Poplar Grove Church.  Her favorite occupation was farming.
Visitation will be 5 – 7pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Odom Funeral Home in Culver.  
Masks are required.  Graveside services will be at 4pm on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the
Maxinkuckee IOOF Cemetery at Poplar Grove, Culver. This will NOT be livestreamed per family
request.
