L B Montgomery, 79, of Culver, formerly of Kentucky, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2016 with his
family by his side.
L B was born on December 19, 1936 in Fritz, Kentucky, one of 8 children born to Millard “Bill” and Blanche
L B wanted to serve his country so he enlisted in the US Army in 1955. During his enlistment, he served in
Korea. Once discharged, he returned home. He later migrated to Indiana for work. There he met Betty
Armstrong and they were married February 26, 1983. Together they raised a family in Culver, where he worked
at the Culver Academies, retiring in 1998.
L B was a life member and Past Commander of the Finney-Shilling VFW Post 6919 of Culver, Indiana.
He is survived by his children with Sherrill Little and also Betty’s children -Chuck (Ruth) Dilts and Joe (Nicky) Dilts
both of Culver, IN, Tony (Merdena) Montgomery of Jackson, KY, Kimberly (Mike Zentz) Dilts of Argos, IN,
Christina (Leonard) Roberts of Hazard, KY, and April (Dave) Pennington of Salyersville, KY; his sisters Ann (Ed)
Crowder of Beaver Creek, OH. and Beth (Paul) Carns of Sydney, OH; brothers Robert and Carson (Matilda)
Montgomery both of Salyersville, KY; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife
Betty, brother Dennis Montgomery, and sisters Betty Arnett and Ella Sullivan.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and L B will then be laid to rest in the Montgomery family cemetery
at Spruce Pine, Kentucky.
Memorials may be given in his memory to the VFW National Children’s Home in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
