Helen L. Heiser, 87, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Culver, passed away on March 6, 2017 at Brandywine
Health Care in Winter Haven.
Helen was born August 19, 1929, in Owensboro, Kentucky, the only child of Raymond and Frances (Ross)
Paswater. She fell in love and was married to Dale I. Heiser on June 6, 1948, and together they raised 2
children, Nancy and Jeffrey. Dale preceded her in death December 4, 2007.
Helen was a remarkable woman. After earning her Bachelors Degree at Indiana University in Bloomington, she
went on to obtain a Masters Degree from Indiana University in South Bend. She later became a 5th grade
teacher at Culver Comm. Elementary School, teaching there for over 25 years.
Helen was a 50+ year member of the Culver Eastern Star lodge. She loved to read, crochet, and travel and
camp with Dale throughout the United States in their motor home.
Helen is survived by her daughter Nancy (Dennis) Cohee of Winter Haven, Florida; son Jeffrey Heiser of
California; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation with the family will be held on March 11, 2017, from 10:00AM – 1:00PM at the Odom Funeral
Home, Culver, with an Eastern Star memorial service at 12:30PM. Rev. Tom Harzula will officiate funeral
services at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Culver Masonic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in Helen’s memory to the Lakeville Eastern Star Lodge, Marshall Co. Humane Society,
or to the Alzheimers Association.
