Forrest A. "Al" Hanselman Jr., 81, of Plymouth, passed away January 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Al was born on December 1, 1936 in Hamlet, Indiana. He was one of three children born to the late Evelyn (Harness) and Forrest
Hanselman Sr.. Al left school early to help his dad on the farm. This is where he developed a strong character and work ethic that
carried through the rest of his life. At 17 years old Al fell in love and married Ruth Hunnicutt. As they began raising their family of
six children Al started working at the steel mill and eventually became an iron worker. He retired from Iron Workers Local 292.
Al loved to hunt, bowl, mushroom hunt, mow the lawn, and go camping. He was a man of strength and integrity who, along with
Ruth, instilled these traits in his children.
Al and Ruth shared 64 years of marriage. A part of each of them will live on in their children and extended family forever.
Al is survived by his wife Ruth of Plymouth; sons: Walter (Diana) Hanselman of Plymouth, Leroy (Donna) Hanselman of Knox, and
Albert (Joyce) Hanselman of Plymouth; daughters: Janet (Jim) Ricks of Culver, Leah (Cliff) Weiger of Culver, and Betty (Mike)
Molebash of Bremen; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and another one on the way, 2 great-great grandchildren, and
many step grand- and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, granddaughter Kaylee Ahlenius,
and great granddaughter Bethany Weiger.
There will be a time of visitation at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver, on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. Funeral
services will follow at 6:00 pm with Pastor Jim Morris officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the North Central Area Vocational Cooperative Apprentice Scholarship fund for a Culver Building
