Ruth I. Gunnells-Brown
November 8, 1925 - January 11, 2018

Ruth I. Gunnells-Brown, 92, of Culver, Indiana passed away on January 11, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor in Culver.
Ruth was born to Hubert D. and Alma L. (Hill) Bell  on November 8, 1925 in Chewalla, Tennessee.  After high school, she
married James C. Gunnells on June 15, 1946.
Ruth took some college courses and worked at Sears.  They moved from Hayti Missouri to Valparaiso, Indiana and then to
La Crosse, Indiana.  Both worked at Beatty Memorial Hospital until James passed on October 12, 1959  Ruth continued to
work at Beatty Memorial Hospital until it closed.  She then accepted a position with the Indiana Bureau of Prisons as a
psychiatric aide.
Ruth met and fell in love with William H. Brown and they were married on September 9, 1961.  Together they raised their
family of 6 boys.
Ruth enjoyed reading, particularly mysteries and romance novels.  She also enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers.  
Most of all she loved to spend as much time as possible with her grand- and great grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her sons: Doyle Gunnells of Simpsonville, S. Carolina, Dane Gunnells of Texas, and Brian Brown of
Kouts, Indiana; sisters Maxine Brewer of Marion, Indiana, and Carline Talmadge of Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren: Shawn,
Logan, Matt, Doug, Chris, Cory, Drew, and Rachael Brown and Andy and Alicia Gunnells; and 6 great grandchildren.
Though, per Ruth's wishes, there will be no services, Ruth will be laid to rest at the Oak Grove Cemetery in LaCrosse,
Indiana.
Memorials may be given in Ruth's memory to the Town of Culver for the beautification of the park.
